After Amundsen had reached the South Pole, beating Scott’s expedition by only a few days, there remained but one great Arctic challenge – the transit of the continent on land. After I had heard of Amundsen’s success, I immediately began preparations for this last journey left for any Arctic explorer. All I wanted, is that this crossing would be achieved by a British expedition.
